Moreover, with so many restrictions here and there due to the global pandemic, pet parents are keeping their companions out. Pets, especially dogs, are very restless creatures and need something fun to do, almost every time. So it can be difficult for pet parents to keep their companions occupied at home. But the good news is that there are several ways pet parents can keep their pets occupied as well as safe while they are at home. Read further to find out more.

Ways to keep your pet safe and engaged at home

Safety is the most important thing when it comes to pet care. So checking this box at the beginning is crucial and necessary. Moving on, getting pets to indulge in something can be challenging, especially with certain breeds. But with patience and calm, anything can be achieved.

Here are some ways to keep your pets busy at home.

# 1. Regular exercises

Not only will regular exercise keep pets fully engaged, but it is also good for their health. If you have a backyard, you can play fetch with your friend. This helps them get a minimum amount of movement per day, which is essential for a healthy lifestyle. Also, while you are at it, it will also help you stay fit. So it’s a win-win situation, if you look at it.

# 2. Tummy rubs, hugs and kisses

Pets especially dogs, simply love tummy rubs, hugs and kisses. Not only does it keep them engrossed, but they always tend to want more afterwards. So if you plan to keep it going, make sure it’s for a good amount of time because who loves all that stuff for only 5 minutes or so? Moreover, this also includes the cuddling that dogs simply enjoy.

# 3. Variety of games

Toys are something any pet can get attached to. Games that make silly sounds are also included in the list of games. If you know your friend’s favorite game, get it for him. It will keep them occupied and entertained for a few days. Replace the game with a new one as soon as you notice that your friend is barely playing the current game.

#4. A safe space

Creating a safe space for your pet is important because sometimes dogs or cats need their own personal space. So create one for them, and when you notice your pet near the safe space, leave them alone. Sometimes just keeping busy with themselves is all they need.

# 5. Tricks and new commands

Another great way to keep your friend (and you) engaged is by teaching them new tricks or commands. If your friend doesn’t know the basic sit, come, go, and stay commands, teaching him that first would be a good idea. Moreover, they can be taught tricks like “shaking the paw” as well.

As you can see, keeping your furry companion safe and indulgent at home can be really easy and fun. So it’s time to get started, right?

Pets spend most of their time indoors, and this can make them feel bored over a period of time.
