You might think that Fideo likes to go out, roll in the mud and wash in the rain, but over time, as he gets older, this can become a problem for him.

Some dogs will have problems adjusting to a changing climate, new environments, and different seasons and weather. If you find your dog is lethargic during the winter, refusing to go outside, or shivering even when inside, it may be time to consider getting an extra layer in the form of dog clothes – this works just as well in the heat as there are items designed to help keep dogs cool and prevent sunburn.

There are many situations that call for dogs to have an extra layer or protection from the elements but there are also breeds of dogs or dogs in certain situations that need the clothes anyway. Dogs that fall into one or more of the following categories are likely to benefit from an extra coat:

Elderly / elderly people

Infected or recovered dogs

Small dogs because they are closer to the ground and get wet easily

Dogs with fluffy or thin coats

working dogs

Dogs live or work in harsh climates

What types of clothing are there?

In human fashion, there is a wide and varied gamut of clothing and accessories and it has become the same with dog clothing. These are the types of items available to your dogs:

rain jackets

sweaters

shirts

shoes

sleep wear

Sports and reflective clothing

Life preservers for boating and water activities

What are the benefits?

Dog clothes offer many benefits. rain jackets keep Fideo dry and warm while you’re out and about; Sweaters and T-shirts help keep him warm inside during the day, while pajamas help keep him warm at night.

Boots will protect the paws from extreme heat or cold and rough surfaces such as gravel and glass. These will take a lot of getting used to and your pet may refuse to wear them – you should never force your dog to wear something they don’t want.

Athletic and reflective clothing helps keep your dog safe, especially at night. If you and your dog are active at night, it’s a good idea to get an orange reflective vest for Fideo so drivers can see you both.

Although most dogs can swim based on instinct, it can be difficult and dangerous for them to swim in rough waters. If you like to take your dog with you on boating, consider life protection in case anything goes wrong.

How do you measure your dog?

It is important to measure your pet in the correct places to ensure that the clothing fits properly and will not cause any problems with its movements. Below is a link to a video that will teach you how to properly measure your dog.

Sizing varies slightly between manufacturers but this is a rough guide to measurements (in inches):

X-small

Return: 7

Neck: 5.5

Chest: 12

small

Noon: 9

Neck: 6.5

Chest: 15

mode

Noon: 13

Neck: 8

Chest: 19

big

Noon: 17

Neck: 10

Chest: 24

X-big

Noon: 20

Neck: 13.5

Chest: 29

When fashion ignores function

As with any costume, there are items that neglect function and can inhibit movement. This is very bad for a dog’s sense of well-being and you should always make sure that the piece of clothing fits your dog’s body shape and does not prevent him from doing anything he would normally be able to do.

You also shouldn’t force something on your dog if he doesn’t want to. If your dog has never worn clothes before, there will likely be a little resistance since it is new for him but with positive reinforcement or treats and attention, he should have no problem accepting his new clothes. However, there may be times when your dog refuses to wear something and should never be forced. It’s important to respect your animal’s rights and only do the things they want and wear.

What kind of dog would benefit from the apparel?
